When Something Feels Off — But You're Not Sure What's Next
By the numbers
One in four adults age 65 and older falls each year.
Source: CDC
Falls are extremely common affecting about 25% of older adults annually and often leading to injury, hospitalization, and loss of independence.
Not every concern requires therapy, home health, or care services, but waiting until a fall or crisis forces action and often limits options.
Many older adults and families notice early signs:
• A fall that “wasn’t serious”
• Changes in routine or confidence
• Near-misses that don’t make it into a medical chart
• Family concern without a diagnosis or clear next step
This is the space where uncertainty grows — and where Safer to Stay steps in.
Our Mission is to make prevention actionable by delivering DPT-led home safety movement assessments that help older adults safely age in place before preventable risks become life-changing events.
You should consider an assessment if…
These early signs often show up long before a serious fall or crisis.
You’ve noticed small changes, like:
There has been a recent warning sign, such as:
You feel uneasy but don’t know what to do next:
- They hold onto furniture when walking
- Stairs are becoming slower or avoided
- They’ve stopped going into the basement, laundry room, or shower
- They say “I’m just being careful” more often
- A fall (even without injury)
- A near fall or loss of balance
- A hospital, ER, or rehab discharge
- A new walker or cane
- Doctors say they’re medically stable
- Home health has ended
- You’re not ready for assisted living
- You just want a professional opinion
You don’t have to wait for a crisis. Safer to Stay helps families make confident decisions before an injury occurs.

Clarity before crisis
Expert-Led Home Safety, Movement Assessments to Support Aging in Place
Did you know?
Three-quarters of falls happen at home, often during daily activities.
Most falls among older adults occur in or around their own homes — especially in bathrooms, bedrooms, and stairways — highlighting the importance of a comprehensive home safety approach.

What Safer to Stay Provides
Safer to Stay offers Doctor of Physical Therapy–led home safety and movement assessments designed for people who are still living independently, but want clarity before things escalate.
Our assessments are:
• Preventive, not reactive
• Consultative, not prescriptive
• Independent of treatment, care, or placement
• Focused on safety, function, and the home environment
The goal is not to tell you what to do but to help you understand risk early, so decisions can be made intentionally and confidently.
Who This Is For
Safer to Stay is for:
-
Older adults who want to remain safely at home
-
Families seeking clarity before crisis
-
Older adults and families looking for objective guidance on whether remaining at home or exploring senior living is the safest option.
-
Professionals looking for an ethical, upstream option for early concern or moments of transition
If treatment, home health, or care services are already needed, we help guide next steps but we are not a replacement for those services.
Who This is Not For
Safer to Stay supports individuals living independently. It is not appropriate for medical emergencies or daily caregiving.
This service is NOT a fit if:
• Emergency Care is needed: For acute injury or urgent safety risks, contact emergency services first.
• Skilled Care is indicated: We do not replace physician-ordered therapy or clinical home health services.
• Daily Assistance is required: We are not a monitoring service and do not provide hands-on care.
• Placement is underway: If moving to assisted living or nursing care, this assessment may not add value.
• Insurance-pay is expected: We are a private-pay consultative service (not billed to Medicare).
The Reality
There is strong preference for aging in place, yet most homes were not designed for long-term safety creating a growing need for proactive, clinical-grade home support.
90% of adults over age 65 want to stay in their current home as they age.

Why This Exists
Many families notice early changes at home — a fall that wasn’t serious, growing hesitation, subtle shifts in routine, but discover there isn’t a clear place to turn yet.
Most insurance-covered services are designed to begin after a medical threshold has been met. Therapy and home health require documented need, and care services typically start once daily support is already necessary. As a result, early concerns often fall into a gap — important, but not yet eligible.
Safer to Stay exists to support this in-between stage.
By offering an independent, Doctor of Physical Therapy–led home safety movement assessments outside of insurance, we provide clarity before treatment, care, or placement decisions are required. This allows individuals and families to understand risk early, consider options thoughtfully, and avoid decisions driven by urgency or crisis.
Because Safer to Stay is not tied to treatment, care services, or placement, guidance remains neutral and focused solely on safety, function, and informed planning. Early clarity helps keep options open.
